When attempting to garner support for a quality improvement initiative, it is important to demonstrate how the initiative supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values, as well as external factors that influence an organization’s priorities. Delivering a proposal for a quality improvement initiative requires clear, concise communication of the plan.

Demonstrate how to change the discussion in a way that sheds new light on the argument

In this essay you will need to demonstrate the understanding you gained in this unit of study regarding the implications of digital technology in business. You will need to engage with one of the following three provocative statements (state clearly which one you have chosen): “All humans are biased, therefore decisions should be made by algorithms.” “The majority of knowledge work will be automated in the next decade.” “Deep Learning is better than traditional computing, because it can learn by itself.” Your essay should be written in a dialectic style that will provide arguments for and against the statement and concludes with a synthesis in which you provide your own opinion and justified evaluation. As a result your analysis should have three parts: Thesis: drawing on the concepts and materials we discussed in this course provide an informed argument for the statement of your choice. Antithesis: drawing on the concepts and materials we discussed in this course provide an informed argument against the statement of your choice. Synthesis: provide your own, informed and justified assessment of the topic. Regardless of whether you 1) take a position for or against, 2) demonstrate how to change the discussion in a way that sheds new light on the argument, or 3) provide a balanced appraisal of both sides, you need to argue and justify your line of reasoning. In your analysis you are asked to utilise the conceptual toolbox with the distinctions we developed in the foundations part of the course (images of organisation, knowledge types etc), as they fit. Please note that not every distinction will be useful in making your argument; only use them where they add value to your line of reasoning.
