There are, however, some common elements in regards to parenting such as the ones described by Baumrind in 1966. Using sources like the Health and Human Services Child Welfare Information Gateway compare and contrast the information you covered in your course readings (especially the different styles of parenting) to what is being currently described as more current practices and thoughts on parenting. Post your response to the Discussion Area by the due date assigned. Respond to at least two posts by the end of the week. STEM EDUCATION: BRIDGING THE GAPS

Conducting effective interviews takes a great deal of planning, skill, organization, and experience. The reading from Family Health International provides very helpful information about the purpose of interviews, ethical issues, logistics, and detailed steps for conducting effective interviews. Pitney and Parker (2009, pp. 45-49) also described a step-by-step process for conducting interviews, and Rabionet (2011) provided an informal description of her experiences learning to conduct interviews, the lessons she has learned, and literature or resources that have been helpful during the process. If you are using a qualitative methodology, review the technology available to assist in data collection. Explore available tools and software for recording interviews that will allow for ease in transcription, especially if a transcription service will be employed. Available resources include your facilitator, documents and articles, and YouTube videos. Question: Discuss the major steps involved in planning and conducting interviews, as described in this week’s readings. Consider which step or steps you believe are more important than the others and explain why. Discuss challenges you might encounter while conducting an interview and how you would handle them.
