Describe a relevant policy or practice in your organization that may influence your selected healthcare issue/stressor.

Within a healthcare setting, the needs of the workforce, resources, and patients are often in conflict. Mandatory overtime, implementation of staffing ratios, use of unlicensed assisting personnel, and employer reductions of education benefits are examples of practices that might lead to conflicting needs in practice.

Leaders can contribute to both the problem and the solution through policies, action, and inaction. In this Assignment, you will further develop the white paper you began work on in Module 1 by addressing competing needs within your organization.

To Prepare:

  • Review the national healthcare issue/stressor you examined in your Assignment for Module 1, and review the analysis of the healthcare issue/stressor you selected.
  • Identify and review two evidence-based scholarly resources that focus on proposed policies/practices to apply to your selected healthcare issue/stressor.
  • Reflect on the feedback you received from your colleagues on your Discussion post regarding competing needs.Add a section to the paper you submitted in Module 1. The new section should address the following:
    • Identify and describe at least two competing needs impacting your selected healthcare issue/stressor.
    • Describe a relevant policy or practice in your organization that may influence your selected healthcare issue/stressor.
    • Critique the policy for ethical considerations, and explain the policy’s strengths and challenges in promoting ethics.
    • Recommend one or more policy or practice changes designed to balance the competing needs of resources, workers, and patients, while addressing any ethical shortcomings of the existing policies. Be specific and provide examples.
    • Cite evidence that informs the healthcare issue/stressor and/or the policies, and provide two scholarly resources in support of your policy or practice recommendations.

In your opinion, what is the role of management in legal compliance? In your experience, or based on research you have conducted, what are some of the issues related to this topic that exist in the workplace?

To prepare for this assessment, use the Capella library and the Internet to research employment law, both from a historical perspective and in the present day. Focus your research on laws that have impacted today’s workplace.

Then, write a 2–3-page summary of your research into employment law. Complete the following:

  • Summarize two of the laws that you feel have the greatest impact in the workplace today, and provide a rationale to support your point of view.
  • Discuss two employment-related topic areas in which you believe the laws will change or evolve in the next 10 years.
  • Describe any trends or historical perspectives that support your position regarding the laws that will change or evolve in the next 10 years.

To deepen your understanding, you are encouraged to consider the questions below and discuss them with a fellow learner, a work associate, an interested friend, or a member of the business community.

What movies, if any, should be considered high-performance outliers? Explain.

The movie industry is a competitive business. More than 50 studios produce hundreds of new movies for theater release each year, and the financial success of each movie varies considerably. The opening weekend gross sales ($ millions), the total gross sales ($ millions), the number of theaters the movie was shown in, and the number of weeks the movie was in release are common variables used to measure the success of a movie. Data on the top 100 grossing movies released in 2016 (Box Office Mojo website) are contained in the file Movies2016. Use data as posted.

Managerial Report

Use the numerical methods of descriptive statistics to learn how these variables contribute to the success of a movie. Include the following in your report:

1. Descriptive statistics for each of the four variables along with a discussion of what the descriptive statistics tell us about the movie industry.

2. What movies, if any, should be considered high-performance outliers? Explain.

3. Descriptive statistics showing the relationship between total gross sales and each of the other variables.
