Are the media in this particular instance performing their proper role in our democracy?

You will go to the websites of MSNBC AND FoxNews. Choose ONE politics or public policy topic that is addressed on both networks websites and read those two stories. In other words, if you select a story about the presidential election on MSNBC then you should try to find how FoxNews is reporting on that same story. Use those two articles to answer the following questions to determine the differences, if any, between the way the media report. PLEASE NUMBER YOUR ANSWERS ON YOUR SUBMISSION SINCE THIS ASSIGNMENT HAS MULTIPLE PARTS. 1. Were the facts reported the same in both stories? Or was there something that was left out of one story and not the other? Why might the facts be different in each story? 2. What did you notice about the language/word choice? Was there leading or subjective language to favor one point of view over another? You should give examples from the article to support your argument.  3. Is the media trying to influence your opinion about the topic as mentioned in the textbook under the heading “media influence?” (The bulk of your paper should answer this question.) Again, provide examples.  4. Are the media in this particular instance performing their proper role in our democracy? Why or why not? Explain what that role is. This should come from your textbook. 5. Finally, go to the following fact checking resources: Politifact and Factcheck. Both of these resources are non-partisan and independent fact checking organizations that help us determine what is fact and fiction in American politics. Check out both of their “about us” sections so you can determine for yourself if you think they are a legitimate source of information or not. Then use these websites to determine if the facts reported in your story were true and discuss. You may not be able to find the exact story from MSNBC or Fox, but hopefully you can find something that is closely related to discuss. The whole point is to become familiar with these sites so you can use them in the future. 5. Copy and paste URL of your news stories from MSNBC and Fox at the bottom of your paper • This paper may be longer than 1 page (no more than 2 pages)

Describe the compound and in what plant(s) it is found.

Plant Chemical Adaptations  Physical adaptations are one way plants have become well-adapted to specific environmental conditions. For example, cacti have spines in place of leaves to prevent water loss in the arid conditions of the desert, and deciduous trees lose their leaves in the fall to survive cold weather conditions over the winter. Chemical adaptations are another means for plant protection. Many plants produce toxic or noxious compounds to protect themselves from insects or animals that would eat them, to reduce competition from other plants, or even to change the response of pollinators. Humans analyze and harvest these compounds for our own benefit. Choose ONE of the following compounds: Caffeine Cocaine Nicotine Artemisinin Answer these four questions: Describe the compound and in what plant(s) it is found.  Explain how this compound provides protection for the plant. Does the compound provide any other benefits for the plant, such as enhanced pollination? What effect does the compound have on humans?

Develop and explain the different requirements that could be used in the recruitment and selection process for managerial positions in the corporation.

You have been in your role as Human Resources Manager of Acme Manufacturing for 6 months now. The employee hostilities that existed when you started your job have been resolved. Training was provided to all employees about expected behaviors and disciplinary actions, and the organization is now well-aware of requirements. The shift workers have received disciplinary action resulting in a written warning and now understand the importance of appropriate behavior in the workplace. The shift workers are now back at their jobs and are happy to be there! There has been little communication regarding how the company is doing since your arrival as the Human Resource Manager of Acme Manufacturing. Leadership of the company has noticed this as well, and the CEO has called you to her office for a meeting. The CEO explains that the company does not have a compensation structure for the nonrepresented management employees. She explains that there is a need for an overall job analysis process and that this work must be completed and approved by the board during its meeting in 2 months. She hands you a report from an external consultant to the board’s Compensation Committee outlining the elements needed, as follows: Develop and explain the different requirements that could be used in the recruitment and selection process for managerial positions in the corporation. This should include a discussion about what may be unique about managerial requirements as compared to other roles. Explain the important steps of job analysis, job design, job description, and job specification as they relate to this project. Ensure that you provide substantial detail in your response. How would you evaluate the relative worth of these management jobs in the company using the job evaluation process? Where would these managerial roles fall within the company’s compensation structure? Ensure that you explain how you made this decision. Prepare a 5–7-page report for the CEO that responds to the 3 requirements listed above.

What were the contributions (findings that may have been made to new information on the topic area or applications)? In creating your Holistic Victim Restitution Plan, you are required to Discuss the history of victimology, victimology theories, and varying approaches used to address the needs of crime victims.
