What role should job evaluation, market pricing, and pay survey data play in your efforts to develop a new base pay plan for your workforce?

You are an HR professional in your private-sector organization.

When your physical retail chain organization merged two years ago with a firm that specializes in online apparel retailing, your company had to hire 150 employees to keep up with growth. This brought your employee count to 250.

Up until the merger, your company paid top market rate, but once the merger took place the company adopted the merging company’s plan where pay was based 20% below market value. The base pay plan now in place is ineffective for the type of company yours has become, where 65-70% of your sales are online.

What role should job evaluation, market pricing, and pay survey data play in your efforts to develop a new base pay plan for your workforce? Your boss has asked you to come up with at least six sources useful for the top managers in your organization to learn about these processes.

In this assignment you will incorporate the most effective sources of information possible, giving special attention to the quality of sources utilized for the purpose intended. Find at least two valid sources of information for each of the three topics listed below. At least two of your six sources should NOT be listed in Module 1. Those two resources should either come from the Trident library or from other sources of peer-reviewed academic journals. Analyze both references for each category and select the one from each category that you think is the most appropriate reference for this assignment. In the end you will have three references to create this presentation for. The three categories are:

  1. Job Evaluation: A formal, systematic means to identify the relative worth of jobs within your firm.
  2. Market Pricing: Using market data to identify the relative value of jobs based on what other employers pay for similar jobs.
  3. Pay Surveys: Collection of data on compensation rates for workers performing similar jobs in other organizations.

Create a PowerPoint presentation of at least 13 slides (representing the topics a, b, c, and d below and a cover slide) for each of the three sources you identified above. Discuss:

  1. How the term specifically relates to the concept of total rewards,
  2. The criteria you applied to determine that each source was appropriate to educate your company managers.
  3. Why each source was chosen (relevance of the info), and
  4. Any ethical or legal issues that should be considered.

Workers today want to see no more than 5 words and a picture on each slide. This means that all those words you want to put on the slides actually go onto the notes pages. (Suggestion: Change the four questions to short bullet points, such as Criteria for question b.). In addition, workers want to see pictures of people, and preferably pictures of the company’s employees, not clip art. This shows potential job candidates that the company cares about its employees. If you put your completely formatted references on the slides, there is no need to have a reference list slide.

Describe the challenges posed for a Christian doctrine of creation by the ecological crisis.

Based on your readings, class discussions related to the Grenz book, and my presentations, you now have the benefit of an in-depth consideration of Trinitarian theology and its significance for the faith and practice of Christ-followers. Here is your chance to draw from these many sources to articulate a considered answer to a question Daniel Migliore poses in Faith Seeking Understanding (73): “What…is…at stake in affirming that God is triune, that God is communicated to us in Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit?” To put the question in multiple forms:
What is at stake in affirming that God is triune?
Why does it matter?
What are the implications of believing this?
How does it affect the way we think about and
live out all the other aspects of our faith (doctrine and praxis)?
Describe the challenges posed for a Christian doctrine of creation by the ecological crisis. With attention to your readings and on-line presentations, present a theological perspective on the topic that addresses the challenges and conveys what you believe to be faithful and relevant keynotes of a reconsideration of the doctrine of creation. Incorporate an informed understanding of God’s work in creation into your response (As one point of reference, note that I devoted a week to this in my presentational material).

With my essay, “Final Observations Related to the Providence of God” (at the end of the on-line resources for March 16-22) as a reference point, present your own statement of faith related to the providence of God. Draw on and credit your theological sources, both those with which you agree and disagree.

Discuss strengths and opportunities for improvement in terms of these initiatives.

Initiatives for Diversity Management in Academia

Discuss the three streams Kingdon has identified where problems originate, and provide your opinion on which one most accurately reflects how and why policies come about.

Assignment: Kingdon: Agendas, Alternatives, and Public Policies Agenda building is often the first step in your policy practice tasks. Building a solid agenda may well determine the success of the development of a policy proposal and may also determine your success in placing an issue in front of a decision maker. For this Assignment, you evaluate the accuracy of the Kingdon model of policymaking. To prepare: Review Chapter 6 in your text, paying special attention to the section entitled “Three Challenges in Agenda Building.” Submit a paper evaluating the accuracy of the Kingdon model in policymaking. Address the following: • Discuss the three streams Kingdon has identified where problems originate, and provide your opinion on which one most accurately reflects how and why policies come about. • Discuss the assertion that certain kinds of issues receive preferential treatment in problem solution and political streams. • Discuss tactics that policy practitioners use within each of the three streams to increase the odds that a specific issue will be placed on decision agendas. Make sure that your assertions are supported by appropriate research and reputable resources. Jansson, B. S. (2018). Becoming an effective policy advocate: From policy practice to social justice. Then, complete a 2–3-page analysis in which you include the following:

  • Provide a description of the case.
  • Summarize the important issues in this case.
  • Include a detailed discussion of the outcome.
  • Address the evidence of discriminatory effects, and discuss the distinction the court is drawing between job-relatedness and business necessity.
  • Finally, offer your opinion regarding the reasons you are for or against the outcome of your case, along with your supporting rationale.

Questions To Consider

To deepen your understanding, you are encouraged to consider the questions below and discuss them with a fellow learner, a work associate, an interested friend, or a member of the business community.

  • In your opinion, what are some of the most important things that employers can do to protect themselves from negligence in human resources activities like hiring, retaining, supervising, and training? Include rationale to support your opinions.
  • What elements do you think need to be in a diversity training course?
  • How would you sell your course to one of the companies you have seen in any of the worst-case settlements?
  • Affirmative action and Executive Order 11236 were intended expressly to support the law. Originally they were aimed specifically at government contractors, but now many employers voluntarily choose whether or not they want to adopt a voluntary affirmative action plan. In your opinion, is this something all employers should do? What is your rationale?
